Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association

Citizens' Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA)'s mission is to encourage the production and preservation of housing that is affordable to low- and moderate-income families and individuals and to foster diverse and sustainable communities through planning and community development. At the core of their work is a belief that every person in Massachusetts should have a safe, healthy, and affordable place to call home. CHAPA achieves this by advocating for opportunity, expanding access to housing, and developing the field.

Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations

Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC) is a membership organization that seeks to build and sustain a high performing and adaptive community development sector that is supported by private and public investment and sound public policies. They advance racial and economic equity by creating healthy communities where everyone lives in housing they can afford, benefits from economic opportunities, and can fully participate in the civic life of their community.

Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless

Created in 1981, the Coalition embraces a collaborative approach to unify people and mobilize resources to support its mission. The Coalition has been committed to tackling difficult problems that impact families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of losing their homes. It works to maintain awareness of the accelerating challenges of poverty and homelessness. Seen as a leader and expert in its field, the agency is called upon by peer organizations and state agencies to share its knowledge and expertise. Since its origin, the Coalition has been committed to developing programs that meet an unmet need, which in turn leads to long-term solutions to poverty and homelessness.

Massachusetts Housing Partnership

The Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) works with communities to create innovative policy and financing solutions that provide affordable homes and better lives for the people of Massachusetts. MHP is a statewide public non-profit organization that works in concert with the Governor, the Department of Housing and Community Development, and the state's other quasi-public housing organizations.

MassHousing

MassHousing is an independent, quasi-public agency created in 1966 and charged with providing financing for affordable housing in Massachusetts. The Agency raises capital by selling bonds and lends the proceeds to low- and moderate-income homebuyers and homeowners, and to developers who build or preserve affordable and/or mixed-income rental housing. MassHousing does not use taxpayer dollars to sustain its operations, although it administers some publicly funded programs on behalf of the Commonwealth. Since its inception, MassHousing has provided more than $27 billion for affordable housing.

Metro Housing | Boston

Metro Housing | Boston (MHB) mobilizes wide-ranging resources to provide innovative and personalized services that lead families and individuals to housing stability, economic security, and an improved quality of life. Their broad array of programs and services, as well as their extensive network of property owners and fellow service providers, allows them to address a wide range of housing-related issues, from preventing evictions and homelessness, to helping people find suitable homes, to making rent more affordable.

National Low Income Housing Coalition

National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) educates, organizes, and advocates to ensure decent, affordable housing for everyone. Their goals are to preserve existing federally assisted homes and housing resources, expand the supply of low income housing, and establish housing stability as the primary purpose of federal low income housing policy. Their Research Team studies trends and analyzes data to create a picture of the need for low income housing across the country. Their Policy Team educates lawmakers about housing need and analyzes and shapes public policy. Their Field Team mobilizes members and supporters across the country to advocate for good housing policy. Their Communications Team shapes public opinion of low income housing issues. And their Administration Team works to ensure NLIHC remains a sustainable, high-capacity organization.
